Naked in Times Square: Karma Points or Wicked Consequences?
By all appearances, Robert Burck, a.k.a. the Naked Cowboy, is living an authentic life. He is who he is. No pretenses, no clothes (well, underwear, but that doesn’t really count) and his guitar strategically placed. Always a song in his heart, he is a fixture in Times Square and he makes people smile, even for a moment, and that is an amazing gift.
Jumping on the Karma Super Highway ain’t easy but it helps if you are living an authentic life. Living who you are allows you to give of your time and talent in ways that not only help you but help others immensely.
Once your inner life (your soul-filled life) is in balance with your outer life (your day to day existence) everything just works better. Doors open, networking is effortless, days seem brighter ~ just like walkin’ on sunshine. You are at peace with yourself and the world. Ahh . . .
If you don’t know yet, make discovering who you are a top priority. It is a matter of intention, honesty, courage, and clarity.
Talk to folks who work in fields that interest you before you choose a major or begin your career. You’d be surprised at how many folks are willing to talk openly about their careers. Ask yourself: will this path sustain me financially and soulfully? Chances are your greatness will be found in what inspires you and money will follow you.
For those that have already entered the work force, started a family or have what appear to be a multitude of constraints, finding your authentic self may be a bit trickier but still more than do-able. You never know until you take that first step. Why not start today?
